the team
The LAP team is made up of more than a hundred researchers affiliated with Prof. Krausz’ LMU chair, or MPQ department, or with one of the associated groups. They are supported by a group of 15 employees providing strong technical, organisational, and administrative back-up. Special attention is paid to communicating the scientific work of the team to the general public.
Researchers affiliated with the groups of Professors Grüner, Karsch, Kleineberg, Tajima (all LMU), Prof. Kienberger (TUM, MPQ), Dr. Kling (MPQ), and with the chairs of Profsessors Habs and Ruhl, join forces with members of the LMU and MPQ groups of Prof. Krausz in the pursuit of LAP’s grand goals . LAP research is currently divided in five main areas: Ultrafast Optics & Oscillators (UFO) coordinated by Dr. Alexander Apolonskiy, Attosecond Spectroscopy (AS) coordinated by Prof. Reinhard Kienberger, High-Field Interactions (HFI) coordinated by Dr. George Tsakiris, Development of the Petawatt Field Synthesizer (PFS) led by Prof. Stefan Karsch, and Theoretical Attosecond and High-Field Science coordinated by Dr. Vladislav Yakovlev and Prof. Jürgen Meyer-ter-Vehn.
LAP builds upon the world-class expertise of its senior scientists, including those having remained active beyond retirement age and the enthusiasm and inquisitiveness of its outstanding young researchers . The creative potential arising from the wonderful mix of experienced researchers and young talents, along with the dedicated, world-class support of our administrative/technical/IT team constitute LAP’s most important assets.
