The attosecond metrology team at MPQ welcomes Marco Dassie. He is from Conegliano, Italy, studied Physics in Padova, and has joined the group as a PhD student to work on field resolved spectroscopy of molecules using sub-cycle infrared light transients. Through the development of metrology techniques, the goal of his work is to develop sensitive molecular fingerprinting techniques with potential applications in medical diagnostics—techniques capable of probing both electronic and nuclear motion within molecules on ultrafast timescales.
