354 kilometers for a good cause

team — Our running team »The Photons« competed with 19 runners at this year's Wings for Life World Run. »The Photons« took off from the starting line in three different cities: Munich, Milan and Vienna. The fastest »Photon« was Ferenc Krausz, who ran 37.3 kilometers. The runners in Munich were confronted with unexpected rivals on the course: a flock of sheep, two donkeys and several goats managed to escape and mingle with the runners. The weather also demanded a lot from the athletes, with constant rain and cool temperatures turning the race into a mud fight at times. Held under the motto »running for those who cannot do it themselves«, all entry fees from the charity run are donated to spinal cord research. This year, 6.8 million euros were raised worldwide. The race begins at the same time in 58 locations worldwide. In Munich, more than 8300 athletes ran until they were caught up with by the chaser car. Wings for Life is not about reaching the finish line, but running as far as you can until the chaser car reaches you. The car starts half an hour after the runners and drives at a speed of 15 km/h until it has »caught« all the runners. For the »Photons« it is an honor to stand on the starting line for a good cause. For three years in a row, our team has competed in the Wings for Life World Run, and is sure to be at the starting line again next year!
